Easter DIY Project March 25, 2015 13:00 2 Comments

The Easter holidays are almost upon us and in our house that means one thing - DECORATING!

We moved to our 'forever' home last July and immediately set about slowly renovating it. We hadn't realised until moving day that the living room was full of mould as it was only revealed once the owners took their furniture away (what's the point of a survey I ask you?).  This room, along with the whole house needed a lot of tlc.

We set out doing up the living room and completed all the boring, but expensive stuff (installed vents, plastering, lined the chimney) and the fun bits too (new multi fuel stove, lighting, carpet) and we're really pleased with the finished room.  It's a lovely space to retreat to for some peace and calm at the end of the day, but it also cost us a small fortune so since then the decorating has been put on hold.  The pic below shows its 'almost finished' state as we hadn't put the artwork up yet.

 Our living room

Now Spring is upon us project 2 is about to commence - little miss' bedroom.  I feel a bit guilty as originally we promised to do her room first, but that was before we discovered the mould so I'm going to make sure it's especially lovely for her.

Little miss is almost 8 and is a self declared tomboy (although secretly she still enjoys 'girly' stuff), we have agreed upon a lovely bright aqua colour for the wall behind her bed with the rest of the room white with accents of purple and deep pink and touches of other bright colour.

Decorating materials

I've ordered some copper star wall stickers by Ferm Living  as well as a huge cork pinboard to cover the wall above her desk (I'm going to paint the pine frame in a bright paint).  I need to paint her lime green desk a colour that will fit in with the scheme and next on the list is finding curtain fabric.  Little miss and I are going to get some picture frames so she can create her own art for the walls, that's this weekend's task.

I'm looking forward to sharing the finished result with you, good luck with your Easter DIY projects.
