My Favourite finds - Autumn 2017 November 11, 2017 19:58

Autumn is well and truly upon us. We can hibernate until Spring, wishing away the coming months to welcome the sun again, or embrace the comfy cosiness that Autumn brings.

One sure way to achieve this, is to introduce a bit a faux fur into your home. Faux fur is huge this season, and there are some absolute smashers around. Here are a couple of my favourites :

Faux fur bench from Maisons du Monde £108

This Ikea rug  is a steal at  £10! Buy two and drape one over a chair.

The fabulous brand Selfish Mother, have teamed up with Save the Children, with a different celebrity designing each sweatshirt. This is definitely going on my Christmas list, and with 50% of the retail price going straight to Save the Children, not only do they look the part, but they are raising a huge amount for this amazing charity. It's sure to keep the autumn chill away, and looks super cool too.

They are £50 and available here

I've been lusting after these fabulous Charley Harper Flock Of Birds stickers for a while now , and have just ordered them hoping they'll work in the bathroom? Not sure how they'll hold up with the steam, but they can always fly off to our bedroom.

I love Charley Harper designs, his unique minimalist style is unmistakable. We have his amazing flamingo and Heron  already available in lampshades, but have two new stunning designs to add over the coming weeks...

Another fun purchase this week, is these fabulous light switch stickers. I've bought them for little miss, and as she's always wanting to re-do her bedroom (definitely her mothers daughter) these are perfect!

There's nothing quite like a spanking new, crisp set of bedding to snuggle under, and as my thoughts turn to cosying up our bedroom, this set from Mini Moderns is top of my list. I'm a huge fan of all things Mini Moderns, but this Darjeeling print has to be my most favourite!

My final favourite, is a brand new addition to hunkydory home for autumn. I'm keeping this one myself, I absolutely love it! This little beauty has a photoshoot this week, so will be available next week on the website. We've also some fabulous new lamp bases coming soon too, I'm sooo excited for these, they're the same as our handmade solid oak bases, but with a new look!

I'm off now for snuggles with my girl, cosying up in front of the fire with a hot chocolate. I love autumn...

Week 4: My favourite finds March 17, 2015 09:58

I've been a fan of Quirk & Rescue for a while, their love of colour and retro pattern obviously appeals to me, I especially love these Decades of Sound cushions so much fun, I think they'd be great for teenager's bedrooms.
These light boxes from Rockett St George  make me smile, I'm just trying to work out where in my home I could put one.
This Olivia tableware is new from Danish design house Superliving, I love the fresh colours and simple design.

I know little miss is probably too old for a mobile, but I'm just planning decorating her room in lovely bright colours and i think this crochet hot air balloon mobile found on Folksy would look great, it's such a happy design.
Finally, I've been hunting high and low for some vinyl flooring for little miss' bathroom, I want something affordable but a bit different from your standard B&Q fare.  I think these Red Circus floor tiles from Zazous might be the answer.

Week 2: My favourite finds March 2, 2015 12:51 1 Comment

I need a footstool in the living room to rest my weary legs on!  I love these beauties from Orwell & Goode but at £300 I better start saving my pennies!

Samphire Bay is an online store based in Alnwick, Northumberland just up the road from me.  They design lovely prints and have a range of fab screenprinted hessian cushions featuring local sayings, I'm pretty sure 'plodge' is universal though isn't it?

I love this new Nelly wallpaper by Rachel Powell and think it would work really well with our Elephant lampshade.

These bone china mugs  from Alfred & Wilde featuring gold geometric designs are so stylish and would be a lovely addition to my kitchen.

One of my favourite online furniture stores MADE.COM have launched a new kids range, it's full of lovely stuff and I'm sure little miss' room will soon be filling up with pieces. I love the mini version of these kitsch chairs as well as this hexagon bedding.  There's also a whole range of monochrome pieces which would be great for accessorising a teenager's bedroom.

My favourite blogs February 11, 2015 21:43 1 Comment

I thought I'd write a blog post about my favourite blogs - the sites I visit and enjoy on pretty much a daily basis.

Messy Nessy Chic -
I absolutely love this website, it describes itself as blogging the 'Off-beat, the Unique and the Chic' and that's exactly what it's all about. Every day there's an interesting post about all manner of curiosities accompanied by beautiful photography. I particularly like the collection of '13 things I found on the Internet today'; a fascinating list of online oddities!
Some memorable posts I've read include, The fake townhouses hiding mystery underground portals,  The Ghostly Flintstones Amusement Park , The 1970s Cold War Era Home built 26 feet underground, The Girl With The Impossible Waist and there are many, many more.  Be warned it's an addictive blog to browse!
Vanessa 'Nessy' Grall is the lady behind the blog, she's English but not very much a Parisian (which means you get all sorts of insights into Paris too - bonus!).
Print Pattern Blog -
I've enjoyed browsing this lovely, visual blog for as long as I can remember, it's full of colour and pattern which you will have probably guessed I'm a big fan of!   The blog celebrates the world of surface pattern design and features the work of both established designers and retailers as well as newcomers.
If you like the blog, there are a few books available too, I've got them all and they make a lovely colourful addition to the bookcase.
Bambino Goodies -
I think I first discovered Bambino Goodies when my daughter was a toddler and I've been a fan ever since.  They feature cool stuff from independent retailers for the under sevens and their families, and not only that but they link to things to make and do as well as other cool websites.  I like their '10 Best...' posts which feature the Bambino team's Top 10 items on a given topic from Hedgehogs to Penguins and much more in between.
I have to say that frequenting this blog has not been good for the bank balance
Blog & Buy Sale -
James and Josephine run the Blog & Buy Sale website, their sole aim being to showcase the best creative sellers from around the world and they do just that!  There's always something fun and inventive to look at and every season they run a Wishlist crammed full of gorgeous products you'll covet.   I always enjoy the interviews with different makers and designers.
This is another site to browse when you're nowhere near your bank card!

Retro To Go -
If you're into retro stuff then this blog should definitely feature on your list of 'go to' sites. Every day vintage and retro style fashion, furniture, cars, memorabilia, events and basically anything hip and retro is featured (they often find amazing stuff on ebay!).

These are just a few of my favourite sites, I'll share more with you soon, in the meantime enjoy!
